Carren Hughes
I am a Physiotherapist with a special interest in ante post-natal maternal care, pelvic organ prolapse prevention; incontinence; sexual dysfunction and pelvic pain.
I have always had a passion for Women’s Health and once I’d had my own two children and returned to work I found myself searching with more enthusiasm for the answers I needed to recover and flourish after having a vaginal delivery and a cesarian section. Women’s and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is not particularly well known in South Africa, however it is fast becoming an incredibly exciting branch of Physiotherapy. What I love most about my day to day work is that I see real time improvement and noticeable life changing results in my patients.
My passion lies in helping women of all ages live an active, leak-free, pain-free, sexually satisfying life. I believe in a multi-disciplinary team approach to achieve the best possible outcome for my patients as quickly as possible. So much of my one on one patient time is spent educating and connecting, becoming not just a person treating a patient, but a person enabling a human being to take back control, change mindset and poor habits in order to reach lasting positive outcomes.
